Acciona Windpower and Prince Edward Island Energy Corp. (PEIEC) have signed a wind turbine supply agreement for the Hermanville & Clear Springs Wind Project, a 30 MW wind farm that will be built in eastern King's County, Prince Edward Island.

The agreement includes the delivery of 10 Acciona Windpower AW3000/116 wind turbines, each with a nameplate capacity of 3 MW and a rotor diameter of 116 meters. The turbines will be installed on steel towers as part of the Hermanville & Clear Springs Wind Project, which is scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2013.

Under the agreement, Acciona Windpower will also operate and maintain the turbines for the first 15 years of the project.

The turbine supply agreement is the first between the two companies and comes after a competitive request for proposals process undertaken by PEIEC.
