The North Dakota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has approved a 50-turbine wind project that will be located in the state's Morton and Mercer counties, according to a report from Bloomberg Businessweek.

The $200 million project is being developed by Duluth, Minn.-based Allete Clean Energy, which has one operating wind farm in the state and two other under construction.

According to Bloomberg, Allete must submit a more complete design plan for the wind farm before construction can begin.
