FPL Energy, a Juno Beach, Fla.-headquartered subsidiary of the FPL Group, currently has 1000 MW of new wind projects under construction, all of which are expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2007, the company reports.

In addition, FPL Energy intends to expand its wind business - adding 1,500 MW to 2,000 MW per year from 2009 to 2012 for a total of 8,000 to 10,000 new MW of capacity in its portfolio within the 2007-2012 time frame.

These and other wind development projections assume continued public policy support, the company notes, as well as normal economic conditions and appropriate expansion of transmission facilities and the global supply chain.
